Q&A
What is Crowbait Creative?
Crowbait Creative is a small creative venture that focuses primarily on photography with the odd foray into other creative pursuits, including [but never limited too] woodworking, graphic design, and tobacco pipe craft.
What's your photography style?
The short answer: textural and moody with a lean towards earth tones.
The long answer; it's a loaded question. On one hand, I'm a firm believer that a phototgrapher's style should be ever-evolving in lockstep with the experiences and techniques gained, but on the other hand your style should be recognizable and consistent. As a photographer it is my job to reconcile continually evolving personal style with the demands of each client, scene and landscape to achieve the best possible result.
Do you travel for shoots?
Absolutley! I am based in Wheatland County, about one hour east of Calgary AB, but also frequent the rural area around Bigstone, AB which is an hour east of Drumheller. This means that my typical service area is quite large, making it easier to meet you where you are. If your project takes place outside of this service area, no worries! Just contact me and we will figure it out!
Are you a full-time photographer?
I am not a full-time photographer, but I dedicate all the time I can to it. I am currently finishing the process to becoming a stamping Architect and work full time in an young and up-and-coming architectural studio. You can call me a weekend warrior, a fly-by-night photographer or whatever you want, but always remember: I will never take on a client that I can't deliver my best work to.
What do you shoot?
Western lifestyle, rodeo, sport horse, event and portrait photography is what I primarily focus on. I shoot for individuals, families, organizations and businesses alike. If you have an idea and need someone to bring it to life, let me know! I'm always up for challenge.
Lastly, and most importantly, what is a Crowbait?
A Crowbait is an old horse, past its prime and unable to work. Great name for a business right!? I know, I know but hear me out. On any given ranch a horse past its prime and unable to work doesn't get to stick around. A crowbait however, has so dutifully served its purpose, earned its keep, and been so valuable in its years that the owners allow it live out its days in restful peace on the ranch. Just like those horses, I focus on dutifully earning my keep and providing value to my clients.
Also, I needed something unique and memorable that spoke to my western roots, scratched my itch for irony and satisfied my love for alliteration.
